Interviewing tips

  • Business professional- show up making a good impression.
  • Campus interview- 30-45 minutes interview. Behavioral or situational questions. Looking for certain skills or competencies
  • Skills/competencies- Communication problem solving conflict resolution analytical
  • Team work leadership time management

Do’s

  • Research the firm/prepare
  • Practice interviewing
  • Be early to the interview
  • Maintain eye contact
  • Be engaging
  • Exude personality
  • Watch your body language
  • Provide details
  • Highlight important accomplishments
  • Take notes after the interview ( when you send your thank yous, you want to be specific to be memorable
  • At events like this, write notes of the things you talked about

Don’t

  • Don’t get too comfortable
  • Don’t use inappropriate language
  • Don’t be overly confident
  • Skip a question
  • Leave without asking questions

Try your hardest to highlight all of your accomplishments

STAR Model

  • Have 2-3 questions prepared.
  • Ask about things important to YOU and not because you think it will impress the interviewer
